Installation Guide
1. Surface Preparation
- Clean the Surface: Ensure the wall is clean, dry, and free from dust, dirt, and any loose materials.
- Repair Imperfections: Fill in any cracks or holes with Mas Maya Base.
- Apply Primer: Use Mas Maya Primer to improve adhesion. Apply evenly with a brush or roller and let it dry according to the manufacturer's instructions.
2. Mixing the Plaster
- Mixing Ratio: Combine Mas Maya Coating powder with clean water at a ratio of ⅓ liter of water per kilogram of powder.
- Mixing Process: Mix thoroughly using a mechanical drill with a mixing paddle. Let it rest for 5 minutes, then stir again until the consistency is similar to yogurt.
3. Application of the First Coat
- Apply First Coat: Using a steel trowel, apply a thin, even layer of 2 mm across the entire wall. Hold the trowel at a shallow angle (15-30 degrees) for the best results.
- Drying: Allow the first coat to dry overnight, avoiding direct sunlight on the surface.
4. Application of the Second Coat
- Dampen the Surface: Lightly mist the wall with water to extend the working time of the plaster.
- Apply Second Coat: Apply the second layer similarly to the first but vary your trowel strokes for a more textured finish. Use overlapping, multidirectional strokes to create an organic, cloudy effect if desired.
- Burnishing: Once the second coat is partially dry but still slightly pliable, use a clean steel trowel to compress and smooth the surface. This creates the polished, marbled appearance typical of Mas Maya.
5. Finishing Touches
- Sanding: After the plaster has fully dried, lightly sand the surface with 200-400 grit sandpaper to achieve a smooth, polished finish.
- Cleaning: Wipe down the surface with a clean, dry cloth to remove any dust from sanding.
6. Optional Sealing
- Apply TopSealer Onecoat (Optional): For added durability and moisture resistance, apply two coats of TopSealer Onecoat. Allow the first coat to dry for 8-24 hours before applying the second. This is highly recommended in areas prone to moisture or frequent cleaning.
Tips for Success:
- Work in Sections: Divide the wall into smaller sections to avoid the plaster drying too quickly and to prevent visible seams.
- Practice: If new to applying plaster, practice on a spare board before working on your walls.
- Environmental Conditions: Avoid applying the coating in direct sunlight or extreme temperatures. Ideal conditions are moderate temperature and humidity.
