Installation Guide

1. Surface Preparation

  • Clean the Surface: Ensure the surface is clean, dry, and free from dust, dirt, and any loose materials.
  • Repair Imperfections: Fill in any cracks or holes with Mas Maya Base.
  • Apply Primer: Use Mas Maya Primer to improve adhesion. Apply evenly with a brush or roller and let it dry according to the manufacturer's instructions.

2. Mixing the Plaster

  • Mixing Ratio: Combine Mas Maya Coating powder with clean water at a ratio of ⅓ liter of water per kilogram of powder.
  • Mixing Process: Mix thoroughly using a mechanical drill with a mixing paddle. Let it rest for 5 minutes, then stir again until the consistency is similar to yogurt.

3. Application of the First Coat

  • Apply First Coat: Using a steel trowel, spread a thin, even layer of 2 mm across all kitchen surfaces, including walls, countertops, and backsplashes. Maintain a shallow trowel angle (15-30 degrees) for even application.
  • Drying: Allow the first coat to dry overnight, making sure the area is free from food preparation or cleaning during this time.

4. Application of the Second Coat

  • Dampen the Surface: Lightly mist the surface with water to extend the plaster’s working time.
  • Apply Second Coat: Apply the second layer similarly to the first, using overlapping strokes to achieve a smooth, consistent finish. If a more textured or artistic effect is desired, vary the trowel strokes slightly.
  • Burnishing: Once the second coat is partially dry but still pliable, use a clean steel trowel to compress and smooth the surface, creating the desired polished finish.

5. Finishing Touches

  • Sanding: After the plaster has fully dried, lightly sand the surface with 200-400 grit sandpaper to achieve a smooth, polished finish.
  • Cleaning: Thoroughly clean the surface to remove any dust or debris from sanding.

6. Sealing the Surface

  • Apply Presealer: To protect the plaster from spills, stains, and daily wear and tear, apply two coats of Topciment Presealer. Allow each coat to dry for at least 4 hours before applying the next.
  • Apply TopSealer Onecoat: Once the Presealer has dried (wait at least 12 hours), apply two coats of TopSealer Onecoat. This sealer enhances water and stain resistance, which is essential for kitchen surfaces. For countertops or other high-use areas, apply an additional coat of TopSealer 100 for maximum durability and protection.

Tips for Success:

  • Work in Sections: Apply the plaster in smaller sections to prevent it from drying too quickly and to ensure seamless application.
  • Practice: If you’re new to applying plaster, practice on a spare board or a less visible section first to perfect your technique.
  • Environmental Conditions: Avoid applying the coating in extreme temperatures or high humidity. Moderate temperature and low humidity are ideal for application.
